ACCOUNTING EXPERTISE BUILT ACROSS REAL INDUSTRY
Sergiy Kucherenko is the founder and director of 42 Advisory and a member of CPA Australia. His professional career has been built in public practice and business advisory — working alongside business owners to simplify financial complexity, strengthen structure, and support growth at every stage.
Originally trained as an engineer with a background in computer science, Sergiy brings an analytical and systems-oriented mindset to accounting and advisory — one that translates directly into the practice's emphasis on automation, process design, and technology-driven client solutions. It is the foundation behind 42 Advisory's cloud-first operating model and its ability to serve technically complex businesses with precision.
Throughout his advisory career, Sergiy has served clients across medical technology, telecommunications, SaaS and technology businesses, construction and trades, and healthcare — including general practice and dental groups. That depth of sector exposure informs advice that is commercially grounded, not generic — calibrated to the specific operating realities of each industry.
He has supported businesses at every stage of the growth cycle — from incorporation and early-stage structuring through to acquisition, restructure, and exit — with particular depth in service trust structures for medical practices, SaaS revenue recognition, and construction industry cash-flow management.

CORPORATE FINANCE EXPERTISE BUILT ON GLOBAL EXPERIENCE
Geoffrey Tulett is a Director of 42 Advisory, helping Melbourne business owners turn financial complexity into clarity and confidence.
With over a decade of experience across Australia, Asia, and New Zealand, Geoff brings deep expertise in corporate finance and business advisory — including R&D, capital raising, valuations, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate reporting. He has held senior management roles, including with a global hospitality group, and has a particular passion for working alongside early-stage and high-growth companies — guiding founders from start-up through to scale and beyond.
At 42 Advisory, Geoff combines technical rigour with a practical, partnership-led approach — the same philosophy behind the firm: that every business question has an answer when you know where to look.
Our Mission
Clarity, Compliance, and Confidence — by Design
To be the number one choice for accounting and business advisory — delivering clarity, compliance, and confidence through smart systems, fixed-fee transparency, and proactive advice. At 42 Advisory, every business question has an answer.
Our Vision
Redefining What You Expect from an Accountant
To redefine what businesses expect from their accountant — setting the standard for technology-driven, advisory-led accounting that makes every client feel informed, supported, and in control of their financial future.
Our Values
Six Principles That Guide Every Client Engagement
-
Clarity We turn complexity into confidence. Every report, forecast, and conversation gives a clear path forward.
-
Accuracy Precision matters. We uphold CPA standards, APES 110 ethics, and ATO compliance across every engagement.
-
Transparency Fixed fees, honest advice, no surprises. You always know what you are paying and what you are getting.
-
Proactivity We look through the windscreen, not the rear-view mirror. Advisory means anticipating, not just reporting.
-
Partnership We act as an extension of your business — not a service provider you hear from once a year.
-
Innovation We embrace technology and automation to improve speed, insight, and client experience without compromising the human element.
Our local team blends technology and expertise to simplify accounting
Whether you run a retail store, hospitality venue, startup, or professional practice, we make accounting smarter, faster, and stress-free — with fixed fees, proactive guidance, and a modern approach that keeps you one step ahead.
Our Name
Why 42? The Answer to Accounting, Simplified
In The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, “42” was the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
At 42 Advisory, it’s a reminder that clarity often hides behind complexity — and that every business question has an answer when you know where to look.
We bring that philosophy to accounting: making numbers make sense. Our focus is on simplifying systems, reducing uncertainty, and helping Melbourne businesses make confident, informed decisions.
Because in the end, accounting isn’t about spreadsheets — it’s about finding your answer.
The Switch Process, Explained
What Happens When You Switch to 42 Advisory
Step 1 — Initial strategy meeting (30 minutes, no charge) We meet online or in Chadstone to understand your structure, your current pain points, and your objectives. No sales pitch, no obligation.
Step 2 — Fixed-fee proposal We issue a written proposal with a scoped, fixed monthly or annual fee. No surprise invoices.
Step 3 — Secure onboarding and ID verification You complete our onboarding form and electronic identity verification (required under AML/CTF and TPB guidance).
Step 4 — ATO agent linking and authorities We obtain your authority to act and register as your Tax Agent with the ATO. Your existing ATO lodgement history and correspondence remain intact.
Step 5 — Xero, FYI, and practice software access We set up or migrate your Xero file, invite you to our secure client document portal, and integrate any required add-ons.
Step 6 — Ethical handover from your previous accountant We contact your former accountant under the professional ethical clearance protocol and obtain the required handover information. You do not need to manage this conversation.
Step 7 — Ongoing advisory support You are assigned a primary CPA contact. We operate to defined response times, schedule proactive tax-planning reviews, and provide year-round advisory — not only at year-end.
The Reasons We Hear Most
Why Melbourne Business Owners Switch to 42 Advisory
✅ Reactive, not proactive. Advice arrives after the fact — once BAS has been lodged or the tax return has been filed — rather than before decisions are made.
✅ Surprise invoices. Hourly billing makes costs unpredictable. A quick phone call can become a $300 time entry.
✅ Poor communication. Phone calls and emails go unanswered for weeks. Lodgement deadlines move without notice.
✅ No strategic guidance. The engagement is limited to compliance. There is no tax planning, no forecasting, and no business advisory.
✅ Outdated systems. Manual processes, spreadsheet workarounds, and PDF emails instead of a cloud-first Xero workflow and a secure document portal.
✅ No forecasting or cash-flow insight. The accountant prepares historical financials but cannot tell you what next quarter looks like.
✅ No advice on structuring. Trusts, companies, Division 7A, and family group planning are treated as compliance tasks rather than strategic decisions.
We designed 42 Advisory specifically to address these gaps.

Why we built 42 Advisory
Too many business owners inherit an accountant by default, then discover the relationship is reactive, opaque, and billed by the hour. 42 Advisory was established to offer a different model: fixed-fee pricing, cloud-first systems, proactive advisory, and plain-language communication. Our firm is named after the answer in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy — a reminder that every business question has an answer when you have the right framework to uncover it.
YOU MAY NEED TO KNOW
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I change accountants?
Most clients switch because their current accountant is reactive, billed by the hour, or does not offer strategic advice. If you are not receiving proactive tax planning, fixed-fee pricing, and clear communication, it is worth obtaining a second opinion.
How do I switch accountants to 42 Advisory?
The process takes approximately 10 business days. We hold a free strategy meeting, issue a fixed-fee proposal, complete secure ID verification, register as your ATO Tax Agent, set up Xero and portal access, and manage the ethical clearance with your previous accountant on your behalf.
Do you contact my previous accountant?
Yes. Under the CPA Australia ethical clearance protocol (APES 110 section 320), we contact your previous accountant to obtain handover information. You do not need to manage this conversation.
Are your fees fixed or hourly?
All engagements are fixed-fee. We scope the work in writing before we start, so you know the cost in advance. There are no hourly timesheets and no surprise invoices.
Do you work with Xero and cloud accounting systems?
Yes. 42 Advisory is a Xero-certified practice and a cloud-first firm. We also work with MYOB where required and integrate add-ons including Hubdoc, Dext, A2X, Employment Hero, and ServiceM8.
Can you help with tax planning, not just tax returns?
Yes. Tax planning is a core service. We conduct pre-year-end reviews, model multiple scenarios, and provide written tax-planning recommendations covering structuring, superannuation, trust distributions, capital gains, and Division 7A.
Do you work with startups and growing businesses?
Yes. We work with start-ups, SaaS founders, and scale-stage businesses, including R&D tax incentive preparation, ESIC reviews, capital raising support, and virtual CFO engagements.
Can you help with company setup and restructuring?
Yes. We are ASIC Registered Agents (No. 53499) and handle company registration, trust establishment, SMSF set-up, and group restructuring, including CGT rollover advice where relevant.
Do you assist with BAS, payroll and bookkeeping?
Yes. BAS and IAS lodgement, Single Touch Payroll, superannuation compliance, and full-service bookkeeping are available on a fixed monthly fee.
Do you work with medical clinics, e-commerce and SaaS businesses?
Yes. These are three of our core sectors. We understand Shopify and A2X reconciliations, service-trust structures common in medical practices, and SaaS MRR reporting.
How quickly do you respond to clients?
Our response-time standard is one business day for email and same-day for urgent matters during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM AEST/AEDT).
Are you registered tax agents?
Yes. 42 Advisory operates under TPB Registered Tax Agent number 26303651. Registration is verifiable on the public TPB register at tpb.gov.au.
